... Founder of Bombshells by Melissa- where transformation is both art and ritual. My styling is intuitive, my chair is a sanctuary, and every cut, color or cleanse is designed to help you step deeper into your power.

Bombshells by Melissa began as a dream during my transition out of Active Duty service in the U.S. Marine Corps. As i neared the end of my military career, I pursued a second passion and trained at a renowned Vidal Sassoon Academy, where I earned certifications in Cosmetology, Make-up Artistry, Master Esthetics, and Reiki. In 2007, I launched Bombshells as a mobile beauty business in San Diego, specializing in hair and make-up for weddings and fashion events. In 2010, I relocated to Japan and continued the Bombshells brand in a single-chair salon- a model I still love and use today. Two years later, I made Hampton Roads, Virginia my permanent home.

From 2012 to 2022, I worked within several Aveda salons, immersing myself in the brand's commitment to environmentally conscious, naturally derived products. During that time, I expanded my expertise by completing numerous educational courses and becoming a Certified Aveda Color Educator and Brand Ambassador. I also served in leadership roles including Director of Education, Social Media, and Marketing.

In 2022, I took the leap to open my private salon suite- and it's been a very fufilling step of my career so far. My military background taught me discipline and precision, while my  passion for artistry and creativity has allowed me to curate a truly personalized salon experience for every Bombshell who sits in my chair.

I specialize in custom-blended color, blonding, and tailored haircuts. My goal is to provide an authentic, welcoming, and inclusive salon experience- one where you feel seen, heard, and beautiful. As someone who has moved often, I understand the challenge of finding a stylist you can truly trust. That trust is something I value deeply, and I'm honored to be part of your hair journey.

​When I'm not in the salon, you might find me : practicing yoga, exploring tarot + divination, riding rollercoasters at Busch Gardens, exploring new restaurants in the Seven Cities, or curled up with a good book. Speaking of books, you'll often find my current read on display in the salon. This has sparked wonderful conversation and led to the creation of Bombshells + Books- a recommendation page and, as of 2024, an official book club!
